On the island of Trinidad, Neal Emery, the owner of a nightclub, is found dead. At first, everything suggests a suicide, but an autopsy reveals that he was murdered. The police suspect a wealthy and enigmatic businessman, Max Fabian, involved in espionage activities. Neal\u2019s widow, Chris Emery, a nightclub singer, agrees to help Inspector Smythe by getting close to Fabian. The arrival of Steve, the deceased man\u2019s brother, complicates the investigation and gives rise to an ambiguous relationship between him and Chris, set against a backdrop of lies, emotional tension, and political conspiracy.<\/p>\n

It is a film noir shot in black and white, set in an exotic location rarely seen in the genre. The film reunites Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford six years after their legendary pairing in Gilda.
